Drop Crotch

Yiota (Vintage Knit, Finders Keepers Trousers, Jeffrey Campbell Boots)

Out on location for a photoshoot, we are all about easy pieces. Queue harem pants and drop crotch trousers!
Harem pant aren't exactly a piece you would wear on a first date, but they still have a place in our hearts.
For the most flattering shape, define your waist by tucking in your top or pair them with a tight cami or tailored jacket. We are also seriously digging ankle booties this season, they are a must for almost all our winter outfits!

We do encourage our readers to try out a pair of harem pants, but keep Nicole Richie's wise words in mind...“The key to a long lasting relationship is to wait until a man is legally bound to you before you wear harem pants.”

Behind the Scenes

We've had quite a lot of interest in our styling process as of late, so we thought that we would share our favourite tip that helps us out before our photo shoots. One of our essential steps to ensuring perfect styling is to lay out the key piece of clothing along with other items, accessories, shoes, etc. that we have pictured in our minds. As we all know, imagining a statement outfit the night before and trying on the real thing the next day can be completely different. Colours and textures may not work as well in real life, which is why this flat lay process helps to make sure that everything works harmoniously before a shoot. Also, if you find that an outfit is missing that extra something, we love adding a bold touch of nail polish, lipstick or a pastel blush! What techniques do you use pre-photoshoot?

Galactica

Thessy (Stylestalker Parka, Zimmermann Playsuit, ASOS heels)
Yiota (Stylestalker Skirt, Sabo Skirt Batwing Cardi, Sabo Skirt crop coming soon)

As winter rolls in we find ourselves opting for darker, warmer garments for a day-to-day look. When awesome Aussie label Stylestalker contacted us to pick our fave pieces from their latest range to photograph, we couldn't go past their amazing Galactica Print and of course their famous Cosmic Parka. We find ourselves wearing less femenine and floral pieces, and more basic, bold and monochrome as the weather gets colder. The sunshine in the photographs is a little deceiving because there was a winter chill in the air.

Boyfriend

Yiota (Contrary Blazer, ASOS trousers, ZARA heels)
Thessy (ASOS Top/Beanie, Sportsgirl Pants, Shakuhachi Heels, Coil Cuff Ring)

Drawing inspiration from the MBFWA just a few weeks ago, we decided to don a matching monochrome look for this post. Although we love to style ourselves in every colour of the rainbow, the street style at fashion week was a sea of black and whites and we LOVED it! Yes we know its nothing new, but there is a reason why designers keep coming back to this timeless trend.

We have worked it in with another one of our fave looks - boyfriend. It’s all about embracing the slouch - the boyfriend trend has been here for a while but it’s here to stay so feel free to go and raid your other halfs (or brothers) wardrobe! Apart from baggy style pants think oversized beanies and tees, add a touch of leather and you're set!

Sport Luxe

Thessy (Rebel Yell Tank, August Street Shorts, Senso Shoes, Black Satchel, Marc Jacobs Watch)
Yiota (SUPERMUSE Vintage Tee, Premonition Asymmetric Skirt, Tony Bianco Shoes, Mini Metal Corner Bag, White Round Sunglasses)

We are dying over the Sport Luxe trend that’s hit stores fresh from the runway inspiration of New York
Fashion Week. Its fuss free and totally ticks the comfort checkbox.

Think luxury sweatshirts and tanks, mesh, exposed zips and varsity style typography. We have chosen to base our outfits around the vintage jersey worn by Yiota, and the mesh detailed sport tank worn by Thessy.
We both paired the pieces with a bit of leather, ankle boots and a sports field backdrop!

Passion for Pastel

Thessy (Alice McCall Lash of Dawn Dress, Sabo Skirt Motley Jacket, ASOS flatforms)
Yiota (Sabo Skirt Blue Lotus Onesie, ASOS Belt, Sabo Skit Rings, Handmade Sunglasses)

Take one look at our online shop and you will see that we both still have a passion for pastel. Apart from being in love with every sweet hue on its own, the best part is that they are like bliss paired together! Today we are working with powder blue and pastel pink, in a location that takes our Mediterranean summer dreaming to a whole new level.

We hope everyone has a lovely break over Easter - we'll be making our way to Melbourne so be sure to stay in touch with us via Instagram @saboskirt

Dreamboat

Thessy (Sabo Skirt Abreeze Dress, ASOS satchel, Topshop shoes)
Yiota (Sabo Skirt Liberty Top, Nana Shorts, Jeffrey Campbell flatforms)

There's just something about wearing all white that makes you feel so fresh and angelic.
With such a high demand for white at the moment we can see why, as it's the perfect canvas for accessorising! Do you dare wear all white? There is totally a risk involved (ending up with red stains due to a full dance floor of people drinking raspberry vodkas) but hey, maybe just choose your occasion wisely! It works so well against all skin tones and even 90% of electronics are available in white to match now! We have chosen to wear our own Sabo Skirt pieces mixed with a few statement items.

The Art Of Contrast

Thessy (Sabo Skirt Contrary Blazer, August Street Shorts, Senso Heels)
Yiota (Sabo Skirt Contrary Blazer, Neon Bralette, Jeffrey Campbell Sandals)

The 2013 spring trend report, fresh off the runway, screams back-to-basics, simple black and white pieces. We're also finding ourselves drawn to hot pink pops of colour as well as the occasional neon yellow inject. So after a while of mixing and matching, we came up with these two outfits and we show you two different ways to wear our Contrary Blazer.

On a side note, we're so happy to say we have a full time photographer working with us at Sabo Skirt, so blog pictures can now include both of us and can happen more regularly! Hooray!
